This 7 day tour is carefully designed to fully address both the historical information in commentary and explanation, along with visits to places of significance to the units involved, without the need for back pack trekking. We visit both ends of the Kokoda Trail ( Owers’ Corner and Kokoda Village ) plus principal places and areas of historical significance including Gona, Buna and Sanananda.

The programme includes expert commentary and accurate geography as to the places we visit supported by comprehensive historical operational knowledge. It is educational, entertaining and engaging.

Transport is mostly provided by four wheel drive vehicles, along the elementary standard roadway systems on the Northern side of the Owen Stanley Mountains ( Kokoda and the Beach Head areas ). The vehicles will be of the Personnel Carrier type, with side seating in the back passenger areas.

Accommodation is, in the main, at (approximately) three star hotel standard, with one night at a basic village guest house at Buna – as an experiential segment of the historical basis of the tour ( sleeping in an actual battle area of 75 years ago ).

The tour leader will be Frank Taylor who has operated military history tours in the areas we visit for over 30 years. He is an Associate member of 2/16 Battalion Association, and a committee member of the 16 Battalions’ Foundation. Frank is considered an authority on the campaigns covered with the tour programme. He has an experienced support staff for the area also.
